and work in Washington, DC as a legal secretary.I will be glad to help with computer questions. I can answer questions dealing with Windows 3.1, Windows 95, WordPerfect 5.1, 6.0, 6.1, and 7.0. I can also answer questions dealing with DOS and with installation of programs.
You may be relieved to know that I have nothing to sell anyone. However, I enjoy troubleshooting the computer and look forward to sharing the knowledge I've gained from my own struggles.
I am a native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands but have lived most of my life (from age 16) in New York and the DC metropolitan area. I was eighteen years in an Episcopalian convent in New York and am currently working as a legal secretary for a small law firm dealing with corporate insurance tax. My hobby is the computer. I am on several Christian mailing lists on the internet. I am a born-again, Spirit-filled Christian and attend Full Gospel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Temple Hills, Maryland. This is a recent picture (taken last summer) and I really will be 63 in April (most say I don't look it). I have never been married; never had any children. My brother, John, is my next of kin. He lives in Winchester, Virginia (nicholas-7@juno.com) with his wife and step-son.
Computers became popular while I was in the convent, and my brother, who at the time was working as an air traffic controller introduced me to the computer after I left the convent. My first computer was an 8088, with one 5-1/4 floppy drive and no hard drive; a monochrome monitor, and no frills or whistles--not even a clock. I learned a lot about computers by upgrading it myself when I was able to, and I recently took a correspondence course in computer troubleshooting and repair. I have learned quite a few software packages over the years, including desktop publishing, database and spreadsheets. My limitations will be with the Macintosh and with Microsoft Word. I will not be able to help with those.
