I have been having these symptoms for some time now. The most common areas of irritation for me are on my torso sides (at the love handles) and on my legs, sometime lower, other times upper part.
recently I developed a strange redness on my right ankle. It started just like the burning sensation except this time I can actually see redness. The initial outbreak was accompanied by a high fever and severe muscle and joint aches making me think I may have been biten by something. The next day the ankle swelled to twice its normal size and turned beet red.
I called poison control, with this anthrax thing going around, and they said it sounded like an infection and suggested ice pack and antibiotecs. I finished off a prescription for penecillin that I had over the next 6 days and the swelling went down and the redness eased. I am now on the second week with this thing, which is almost gone but still burns and is now peeling.
It is a little comforting to hear someone else has similar ailments.
Psoriasis seems to fit most of the symptoms and Lupus actually comes close except the redness is not on the face.
When I get the burning, whether I can see anything or not it is near impossible to let clothing touch the affected area. I wear loose shirts when it happens on my sides and have been without socks for weeks now. Thanks for having this problem, I guess misery does like company if only to know they are not too weird. Robin
