Annie,
I have been suffering with itching, burning skin for almost two years.
I have been to every doctor and taken many tests. They do not ever find anything wrong. I am now going to go see a Endoctrnologist to have my adrenal glands checked. I am perimenapausal, so I thought for the longest time it might have something to do with that, so I went down that long winding path that led to nowhere. My hormone levels seem to be fine, but the itching and burning seem to persist.... I am so frustrated, I have begun to give up on the whole idea of ever feeling better again. Whatever this is, it is very persistant.
Thanks for some of the suggestions.

: Several months ago, I developed a very annoying itchy spot on my back. There was no redness - no rash - or marks of any kind on my skin. I initially thought this could be an allergy reaction or dry skin and used several dry skin products to no avail. About 8 weeks ago - the itch became extremely intense and over the counter ointments didn't work and I made an appointment with my doctor. The doctor prescribed an antihistimine (Allegra) to help stop the itching. The itching has calmed down - but now I am having extreme burning sensation which has moved to various locations on my body. The inside of both arms and the spot on my back burn so bad - it can best be described like a very very bad sunburn or burn caused by steam. The pain is so intense it keeps me awake at night. There is nothing visable to the eye and the skin does not feel hot to the touch. I am under doctor's care, but cannot find an answer what is causing the problem or relief from the burning/itching skin. Has anyone else every experienced something like this - and can anyone offer any information or suggestions for a cure?
