I have a family member who suffered from excema, cracking skin etc. for many years. She underwent a kind of experimental therapy called Subdermal Cortisone Injections about 10 years ago. Guess what? The excema went away and did not return for years. Problem is the doctor that performed it at NYU/Cornell Medical Center passed away. I have heard of some amazing cutting edge research there still to this day.
