: : Everyone!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!
: : I have had the same problem for 8 yrs now. The following is what I have had done to try and fix the problem....... I had a nodule removed from the larynx 5-01 didn't work.... and then a major surgery done to remove thyroid cartilage from the hyoid bone 12-01 that originally was clicking but also causing me to lose voice strength....and also all the tight, ball feeling, as everyone has described. I just got back today from UCLA Med Ctr. the chief of head and neck surgery..who did my surgery... is trying to figure out what my deal is and isn't sure why I am still uncomfortable. He is having me do a barium swallow-the chewing and swallowing one. He thinks it might be a criopharyngeal spasm. The reason I am even here on this chat is from doing a search to find out what a C-spasm is????
: : The feeling of pressure around the adams apple area is very annoying. I have found that heat, lots of advil and stretching help. I am really starting to buy into the stress thing. I am also very high strung and worry about everything...maybe it finally caught up to me. I am a 36 yr old male, good health, do not smoke, drink moderately...sometimes. ...actually drinking seems to ease the discomfort and relaxes me..as someone else mentioned. Also, popsicles help when it is irritated. I do notice that the more I think about it and the more I get stressed the worse it gets??? I have done every test from xray, mri, liquid barium swallow, speak pathologist, PT, scopes down the throat and nose, and finally the surgery.....did not work. The DR thinks the barium test will see if it is a spasm problem. I have always described it acting like a pulled muscle or spasm. We shall see. My email is uleyski@aol.com
: : Reading all this has made me feel a bit better, I hope I have done the same.
: : Be well,

: : : I have had a lump in the lower back of my throat for 2 months now. I went to the doctor and he gave my antibiotics that didn't do anything. It hurts on the outside of my neck just a little. But the main problem is that I can feel it and I know that it's there so I'm constantly looking at the back of my throat! Has anyone ever had this sort of problem? Please tell me about it! :)

: Oh my gosh! I can not believe that this is a common problem. I have been to 12 doctors they each refer me to another doctor it has been horrible. I have had the lump feeling for almost 3 years. I have been on several antibiotics, had every test you can imagine even been on zoloft, prozac and others. I still have this lump in my throat. The doctor considered removing the lymph node from the back of my throat, I dont know what to do. I also have swollen lymph nodes everywhere. I am at a loss as to what else I can do. I was just looking on the internet to see if I missed something during my searches and I found you all.
: Thanks,
: Susan
Oh My God I also have the same problem and it will not go away. It is constantly there and sometimes I feel like things are getting stuck, and that I have a wheezing feeling as well. I too am highly strung and it is worse when I am stressed and better when I am drunk!
