Hello,

I've had this problem for about five years now. Everytime I take a pill it seems to get stuck in my throat.

The very first time it happened, I went to an emergency room and had a doctor show some device down my throat to find the pill. It was a large gel pill and I could feel it moving in my throat, it felt like the gel was stuck mostly intact and moving around. The doctor found absolutely nothing.

I take very little in the way of medication because of this. Now I'm back on medication again for flu and of course, like any other time, it's happened again. I took a pill at about 8 pm last night, it is now 5:51 am, I have been unable to sleep and I can still feel it in my throat. My husband cut it into three smaller pieces, yet I can feel it sitting there. Not only can I feel it sitting there, I can feel it move around, I can feel the jagged edges of it. I know the doctor said it's psychological, some say it's stress... how can I feel so succinctly the pill moving in my throat?

I'm considering trying hypnosis and see if maybe that helps. God knows I try bread and everything. I can feel the damned thing come right back up my esophagus after eating bread. Psychological? Maybe, but I can't figure out why a 40 year old woman who never had problems swallowing pills has now had problems every single time for about the past 5-6 years. I decided to do a search online tonight, imagine finding others with the same problem?

If anyone has any success figuring out why this happens, please do me a favor and email me.

Thanks.
