Caretakers should help ensure that elderly people who are in care should get enough water to drink. Failure to do so could be seen as neglect according to some people. Most of the attention that people are focused into are cases such as malnutrition and the care for other diseases. This often overshadows the reality dehydration.
Water is vital for the functions of the body to perform better. Frail people who lack water is more prone to infections, dizziness, confusion and to falls. Some of this diseases may never even fully recover.
Water is something that will help the seniors. This is something that the caregivers and caretakers should take into account and not just merely focusing on the diseases and on malnutrition.
This same situation is being practiced in the United Kingdom where Baronness Greengross is actually urging the government to increase the campaign in encouraging caregivers to not forget proper hydration.
