Reuters – Falls are one of the deadliest problems that hound seniors. It is actually the most common reason for deaths. However, falls can be cut significantly when health care providers take basic stems like prescribing physical therapy, monitoring medications and checking blood pressure. This is according to a group of researchers who are doing a study.
There is a program like that in Connecticut which helped reduce the number of falls among the elderly by 9 percent. In addition to that, the decrease of falls have saved around $21 million worth of health care costs.
If more programs like this will be conducted, then a significant decrease will save a lot of money that could be used for other things like treating the ailing economy.
