You not only get to walk a little more to and from the store, you also save yourself the hassle of fighting for a space up front.

A pedometer is a small device that you can clip onto your waistband and counts your steps. Many studies have suggested that people who wear a pedometer actually work harder to walk more every day. This may be in part because when you can actually see how many steps you take on any given day, you are simply encouraged to walk more. These devices are typically fairly inexpensive too, though you may also purchase more hi tech devices that can cost sixty dollars or more if you are so inclined.

Walk Short Distances from your Home- Many people take their car to short destinations, even when they are very easily within walking distance. So the next time you have to go down to a store that is just down the block or want to go visit one of your neighbors, consider taking a stroll instead of hopping in your car.

Walk with Family and Friends – Another easy way to get more walking every day is by going sightseeing in your own neighborhood. By taking along your family, friends, or spouse, you can also turn you walking time into a social activity. You might be surprised just by how much there is to see just by strolling around near your home.
