When people think of fitness, they typically think of going to the gym. But this doesn’t have to be the only time that you can concentrate on getting more physical activity. In fact, it might be helpful if you find ways that you get more exercise in into your everyday life. And one of the easiest ways to do this is by walking more. Walking is a very simple, low impact exercise that can really help maintain your heart health with ease if you do it often enough. So you should look for opportunities to do it more throughout the day.

Here are some simple ways you can get more walking in every day.

Park Farther Away at the Grocery Store - When most people go shopping, they tend to try to park as close to the front of the store as they can, even it means waiting a little longer in their car until a space is available. But if you want to increase the amount of you walking you get every day, you are better off simply parking in the back of the parking lot. You not only get to walk a little more to and from the store, you also save yourself the hassle of fighting for a space up front.

Purchase a Pedometer - One the simplest and more powerful ways to walk more every day is buy purchasing a pedometer. A pedometer is a small device that you can clip onto your waistband and counts your steps. Many studies have suggested that people who wear a pedometer actually work harder to walk more every day. This may be in part because when you can actually see how many steps you take on any given day, you are simply encouraged to walk more. These devices are typically fairly inexpensive too, though you may also purchase more hi tech devices that can cost sixty dollars or more if you are so inclined.

Walk Short Distances from your Home- Many people take their car to short destinations, even when they are very easily within walking distance. So the next time you have to go down to a store that is just down the block or want to go visit one of your neighbors, consider taking a stroll instead of hopping in your car.

Walk with Family and Friends - Another easy way to get more walking every day is by going sightseeing in your own neighborhood. By taking along your family, friends, or spouse, you can also turn you walking time into a social activity. You might be surprised just by how much there is to see just by strolling around near your home. If you are looking for a bigger challenge, you might simply if there any hiking trails near where you live.

At $4 per gallon, gas prices literally locked the senior citizens inside their homes. The difficult economic times has affected all Americans especially the elders who only have a fixed income.

For their daily expenses, most of the seniors could not simply insert $4 gas in their budgets. Whenever they feel like they have to go somewhere, they just have to carpool or simply find their way towards the bus station.

This is quite uncomfortable for senior citizens because they also have to go out from time to time and to think that gasoline adds up to the problem is something that is really devastating.

I just hope that this crisis would stop because not only does it affect the senior citizens, it affects the entire nation as well.

Everyone understands the importance of working out on a regular basis, but it can be challenging to work up the motivation to take that first step. Especially if you don’t think of yourself as a particularly athletic person, it can seem like a big hurdle to just get started. But entering into the world of fitness doesn’t have to be a major personal obstacle. If you know what to expect when going in, the transition into a life of regular exercise can actually be very smooth.

Keep these tips in mind as you enter into a more fit way of life.

Expect Soreness - The most common complaint amongst people who haven’t worked before is that their muscles are very tender the day after their first few workouts. Everyone who exercises experiences soreness, but it is the most intense amongst people who try it for the first time. This because your muscles just aren’t as used to the kind of stress that is put on them, so they are going to be much more uncomfortable after exercise. Don’t worry though, it gets easier as you stick to you general workout plan.

Take it Easy at First - It can be very tempting, especially if you consider yourself a particularly ambitious person, to wan to try an exert yourself as much as possible the first time out. But going gung-ho isn’t a good idea quite yet. Your body has yet to adapt to strenuous physical activity, so it is a better idea to start exercising at a more moderate pace. You should certainly be exerting some effort at the beginning, but don’t expect to able to sprint full speed for a long time or get into difficult yoga poses right off the bat. As you muscles and ligaments get more accustomed to exercise, you will slowly become more equipped to pour more effort into your exercises.

Experiment with Different Exercises - Don’t make the mistake of thinking that exercise consists solely of lacing up your sneakers and going for a stroll around the block. In reality, there are countless of different exercises you can try. So when you are just starting out, it makes sense to dabble in as many as you can, to get a sense of what if feels to use your body in a physical way and to get an understanding of what your favorite exercises are. For example, you might try doing some simple cardio like jogging one day, and experiment with a little weight training the next. Or you might try stretching exercises like yoga a whirl. Educating yourself on the world of exercise is all part of keeping yourself fit.

Get an Exercise Partner - If you really want to help ensure that you stick to your fitness plan, it is a great idea to get a fitness partner. By having someone else with whom you workout, you become much more motivated to workout regularly. Plus it also helps when you turn exercising into something that is social as well.

The short nose joke

A man moves into a nudist colony. He receives a letter from his mother asking him to send her a current picture. Too embarrassed to let her know that he lives in a nudist colony, he cuts one in half and sends her the top part.

Later he receives another letter asking him to send a picture to his grandmother. The man cuts another picture in half, but accidentally sends the bottom half. He is really worried when he realizes that he sent the wrong part, but then remembers how bad his grandmother’s eyesight is and hopes she won’t notice.

A few weeks later he receives a letter from his grandmother. It says, "Thank you for the picture. Change your hair style? It makes makes your nose look too short."

Yahoo! News - Total hip replacements are very beneficial and highly economical for the seniors who are suffering from osteoarthritis. This is regardless of their age. But then, since this is an invasive surgery that takes a lot of time to heal, physicians do not offer this option to those who are 85 years old and above and this is also the same reason why those who are older are reluctant in getting the treatment.

Researchers found out that hip replacement improves the everyday life for patients and it is as beneficial to those in their 80s or 90s as it is for someone who is in their 60s.

Getting a hip replacement is a good way to keep the seniors mobile and avoid falls and slips that may cause further injuries. If you think that this is what you need, consult your physician and check if you can avail the treatment.
