I have a senior citizen aunt who is suffering from epilepsy. I seen her several times having those attacks and to tell you honestly, I still feel very tensed and totally scared whenever I see her shake.
Those attacks made her prone to injury in the advent of sudden attacks whenever she is outside the comfort of her house. She had an attack once and luckily one good neighbor saw her and brought her back home.
Here are some suggestions on how to reduce the risk of injury when attacks happen.
1. Always carry proper identification that indicates the exact nature of the disease.
2. Make sure that everyone around you knows what to do in case an attack shows up.
3. Avoid situations that are dangerous when you are having seizures like working in high places or swimming alone.
4. Follow the rules about laws regarding driving with epilepsy.
5. Do not stop taking your epilepsy medications.
6. Do not take any other medication unless it has been cleared by your pharmacist or doctor.
