If you ask me, I find it silly when a patient gets the barest information about his or her condition when it’s their bodies the doctor will be fixing up. In a senior’s case, you’ll find that the doctors and health care providers are most likely to inform a patient’s relative way before they even approach the patient himself. I tried asking my doctor about that, the second time I [...]

For the past years or so, there have been some worries surrounding retirement which I firmly believe brought about some major changes in the way we see retirement as well as how we go about it. Gone is the notion that if you were able to build your nest egg all shiny and good, you’ll spend the last good years of your life covered and worry-free. Well, apparently, that is [...]

I have never been a good example of cheap spending nor do I spend impulsively. I would like to think of myself as a responsible spender. Whenever I need to buy something, I make sure that I absolutely need them and I get value out of my money. I wouldn’t recommend seniors to be cheap as well, as there are things you really have to spend your money on and [...]

I won’t even dare say that seniors are computer illiterate and wouldn’t know the difference between a computer mouse and a house rat because that will definitely contradict the study that shows boomers to be the fastest growing group in terms of new Facebook users. Interesting right? Well, I am not surprised as I have 3 fellow bloggers well on their 60s and about 50% of my class in middle [...]

Whether you are working for a company or running your own business, good work etiquette is a must. Actually, first impression is almost always based on how you interact socially with people at your workplace, be it your co-worker or your clients. And since you are expected to act your best during these times, it is good to brush up on your work etiquette from time to time. Remember that [...]

Funny how we aim for perfection all the time when experience itself will tell us that it just isn’t possible. Yes, we seniors have seen it all but that doesn’t mean we know all the ways of the world—and do it perfectly too—that, my friend is insane. And, well, it can also drive you insane trying to be one. The worse kind however is when a senior finds himself expecting [...]

The things that transpired over the weekend truly saddened me to the core. I was busy monitoring the aftermath of Cyclone Yasi as well as the ongoing search and rescue operations held in New Zealand since the powerful earthquake that shook them late February when the news of Japan experiencing their strongest and most damaging earthquake came in. A day later it was the tsunami, an expected after effect of [...]

I can understand those seniors who felt that there is nothing likely to come into their lives at their age anymore. Just imagine this: you are already retired or may be a little late to switch careers, the kids have already flown away from the nest and living their own lives now, add to that the fact that you lost your partner and there is no one at this point.. [...]

As we age, aches and pains will also come aplenty. Some of the less fortunate ones even have to contend with fatigue as these two often go hand in hand. I won’t even think of arguing about it; there are about a hundred reasons why seniors are more prone to suffering chronic pains than any other age group—most of these reasons are overlapping with one another so that basically doubles [...]

Indeed, shopping and cooking for one is no fun. In fact, studies suggest that this situation usually causes a senior to not eat healthy and can even lead to depression. Sensibly speaking, it is often not practical and if you are not too careful, you might end up with too much excess—to your dog’s delight, of course, or your neighbor’s if you don’t have a dog. However, with a little [...]
