Ten Things You Should Know About Medicare

Medicare can be as complicated as your tax filing as there are so much rules to follow and there are so many possible mistakes to commit. You can never be too careful of these things, I say, however, there are some basic things you can bear in mind when dealing with Medicare and these ten points are some of them:

1. Learn Medicare. It will help you tremendously if you understand what you’re dealing with, besides your mind might enjoy the “exercise”. Knowing how to handle Medicare can even put you in the center of a social gathering since not all seniors are aware of how Medicare works, so be the first to know.
2. Mistakes cost money—and penalties. There are so many choices offered by Medicare that it already became as complicated as a Rubik’s cube! There are deadlines to meet and rules to remember. Make sure you are always ahead of the game by doing your homework i.e always in the know.
3. No heads up. There will be no warnings or reminders or whatsoever when it’s time for you to sign up. Call it sneaky but seniors are left to their own devices so make sure you mark your calendar well.
4. Start at age 65. You are supposed to sign up at age 65 or within 8 months prior to retiring from work, whichever comes first.
5. Every senior is qualified to benefit from Medicare. You are entitled by yourself, or by your spouse’s or you can buy yourself one. That is why you should know your options as sometimes you are qualified by two or more points.
6. Your past and current health status does not affect your coverage. Medicare is not your usual company-issued insurance which denies coverage or charges more if your body is already junkshop quality. If you qualify and have completed all Medicare’s requirements then the senior will receive full benefits.
7. Medicare is only an aid. It does not pay for everything, it just lessen the cost so if you are looking to do without medical payment later in your life, seek other coverages too and never depend on Medicare alone.
8. Always inquire about your Medicare. Whether you are buying medications or will undergo a procedure, always ask if you can use your Medicare as it covers a wide range of services.
9. Medicare has no family coverages. Like I said earlier, Medicare is not your usual company-issued insurance which has dependents and beneficiaries. Medicare can only be used by the senior whose name appears on the paper.
10. Medicare has four parts to choose from. Each has their own specific areas to cover. This is done to avoid overlapping with other health insurances you have.

Why Marry At 50?

My question actually is: why not? Younger ones may not fully grasp the idea of their older family members getting married but there is no reason why we seniors should not get marri[...]
