Foods That Do More Harm Than Good

A great percent of our health status is always attributed to the kinds of foods that we eat and our eating habits. Nowadays most people are aware of this fact and thus have adopted good eating habits and carefully choose what to include in their diet. However, most people do not know that some of the good foods we eat could be harmful due to the way they have been produced. Most foods in the market today are produced with a lot of chemicals involved in their production process. These chemicals and inorganic substances used are harmful to our health when their residues are found in the food products. When one uses such foods with chemical residues, the foods cause more harm to the body than good. It is thus very crucial to try and eat organic products to avoid harmful chemicals from finding their way to your body.

Foods that are found inside the supermarket are one of the most susceptible kinds, usually produced with a lot of chemicals involved. Most of the groceries sold in the markets today are grown in under green house conditions with a lot of chemical compounds such as fertilizers, pesticides and chemical sprays for faster growth and increased production. Some of these chemicals remain in the produces until they are ready for consumption. Different groceries grown with inorganic products contain different residues of the chemicals used. Some contain very little residues of the chemicals or none at all while others contain some of the chemical residues which are very harmful to your body and their levels increase with the amount of the grocers used. It is thus advisable to buy the kind of groceries that are chemical-free. You can always find them in the market though most are sold at a little higher price than others. As much as you may want to keep your grocery bills under control it is very essential to spend a little more to ensure that you buy foods that are good.

Other foods that are known to be produced with a lot of chemicals involved and contain chemical residues are Salmon. Farmed salmon is known to cause high levels of PCBs thus one should spend a little more to buy wild salmon which is a little expensive but not harmful to your health. Another is Milk. You should be keen to buying conventional milk that is from cows and has not been treated with rBST which is an inorganic chemical used to increase milk production. Also avoid ground meat, celery, supermarket sushi, canned tomatoes among others. Always try to buy food from local farmers though the food is termed as expensive so that you are sure to buy foods that do not cause more harm than good. It is very essential to invest much in the kinds of foods that are helpful in maintaining a good health especially when age is considered.
