At your old age, you need to maintain your skin by giving it proper skin care treatment. Skin care can make you look younger while hiding the effects of aging on your skin. Senior citizens need to take care of their skins to avoid skin cancer, wrinkles, and bruising, itching, dry skin and age spots. Seniors who look younger tend to live longer and it’s because they lead a healthy life and make it a point to take care of their skin.

Numerous anti-aging products are available in the market to give various skin treatments. Some anti aging problems can be prevented by doing simple basic skin care remedies whle some require more drastic procedure. These tips include various lifestyle changes to obtain optimal health and maintain vitality. Please take note that skin care should also come from within so it is very important to be very conscious of the things you take in and introduce to your body.

Quit smoking

Smoking dehydrates your skin and accelerates the skin aging process. You may experience uneven skin coloring, develop wrinkles and broken blood vessels. You can also develop a grey or orange complexion therefore you should also avoid second-hand smoke.

  • Exercise regularly

Exercising could involve walking, dancing, skating, skiing and yoga. These activities can improve how your skin looks by either helping in weight loss or toning your body. Your skin can benefit from maintaining its firmness and preventing it from loosening further.

Good sleep can boost how your skin looks and feels. Sleep removes dark circles, improves complexion, protects against wrinkles and makes the skin glow.

  • Eat a healthy diet

A healthy and balanced diet provides the necessary nutrients needed by the skin to glow and maintain its youthful appearance.

  • Drink plenty of fluids

Keep your body hydrated at all times. You should avoid drinking caffeinated drinks instead drink fluids such as water and juice. Hydration can give seniors a beautiful skin by making it smooth, plump and bouncy.

  • Avoid extreme sun exposure

UV rays are dangerous to the skin. If you have to spend time in the sun you should use sunscreen with good protection level. The sunscreen can protect you from harmful sunrays as you enjoy your time outdoors. The rays can damage collagen leaving your skin rough, uneven and loose.
