Deregulation the Electrical Industry will hurt
Senior Citizens
Dear Seniors,
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission or (FERC) has big plans on deregulating the electrical industry. They are going to tell you that your electrical bills are going to go down but this couldn't be further from the truth. The truth is that the only ones that will be helped is large corporate consumers. I personally haven't seen any decrease in my telephone or cable bills since they deregulated, as a matter of fact I think they have increased. If electrical companies are forced to compete for the larger corporate customers who do you think will burden the load for there cheaper rates? Not only will the residential consumers see rate increases, but there is a strong chance that any consumer help plans
sponsored by your local electrical utility will be canned.
In Western Pennsylvania The Utility Company West Penn Power was already forced to purchase a co-generation plant for millions of dollars because they would be forced to purchase power from this plant at 8 cents/Kilowatt, when they can produce it for about 3 or 4 cents /kilowatt. This is a situation that can get real ugly for both Seniors and the young alike. You must write your congressman today. Keep watching I will post names of people to contact to tell them that you do not want deregulation.
