Humans seem psychologically predisposed to at all cost preserve a favorable status quo and resist change. They are suspicious of and apprehensive of anything different to what they identify with, which from their myopic perspective represents "THE TRUTH." Truth, as you refer to it is a myth, nothing more than what is observed and interpreted from a selective perspective, subject to constant modification and revision and in no way relative to objectivity or reality. The pristine Democracy of the founding fathers is an ideological misconception. All thirteen colonies indulged in slavery including every affluent member of the continental congress. Jefferson had over three hundred slaves and profited in slave trading thousands of others. It was the most profitable investment opportunity of that era. Women had no rights regarding property, voting, education etc. Child labor was commonly accepted. Pioneering the western front, "IN TRUTH," meant ravaging and raping native Americans of their homeland for the assets which for the record is our American holocaust. When Lincoln in his Gettysburg address referred to our founding fathers being dedicated to the concept of all men being created equal, was he lying, or did he literally mean white adult males? The special interest groups who represent wealth and power have been dominantly self serving in every historical period regardless of how their ideology reads. The bondage, colonization and exploitation of many continents by European Christians was antithetical to their Christian Ideology but they ludicrously gave thanks and credit to their God.
We are now the only super power on the globe, with troops and armadas patrolling every hemisphere. There is no nation we can demonize as the evil empire, but our military budget each year reaches a record high. Our role is not to make the world safe for Democracy but to protect the assets in trillions of global corporations. The cold war was not one of political ideology but economics. The Gulf war the same. Oil, not Kuwait sovereignty. South America has been kept in bondage by American military and financial support to the totalitarian governments, and the CIA assassinated elected leaders (Chile) who endangered the investments of global corporations.
The absolute power that absolutely corrupts is the global corp. syndrome. They control the political arenas internationally. The best seller book "THE BUYING OF THE PRESIDENCY" and the follow up book in progress, "THE BUYING OF THE CONGRESS" reveals who the candidates financially depend on for campaign funds and whose interests they represent in their legislation. All competing candidates are financially supported by the same sources so the election outcome is of no significance to the corporate world. The corporate world has ruled the roost during Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Nixon administrations, the tax structure has remained inequitably favorable to them. Deregulation has given them cart blanche on operation freedom. The industrial exodus from the USA in the past twenty years to fully exploit automation and cheap labor was unobstructed and without any import export penalties.
Of the people, by the people, for the people is another dimension of the Democracy myth, women and minority representatives are also subservient to these corporate benefactors who control and hold their political umbilical cords. Eventually the Medicare, Medicaid systems will be reshuffled and relabled but not appreciably cut back because that multi-billion dollar income is vital to the medical, pharmaceutical and health insurance industries and they are a corporate lobby force that wont permit it’s demise.
