As is true of the comment listed in your Forum, I too am not nor ever will be a user of any sort of illegal drug. And I do not advocate any such use by anyone else as I've seen the bad effects of that on several people.
But it seems to me that marijuana is a SOCIAL problem, and a legal one of course, rather than a severe health hazard. I've seen lots of Social-type evidence, such as the claim that majiruana use can lead to using other drugs, but the MEDICAL evidence is sparse indeed. In other words, compared to tobacco and alcohol, marijuana doesn't seem all that horrible.
If it were to be legalized, clearly lots of people would not be prosecuted, police could deal more productively with violent crimes, and let's face it, tax money would be collected for use in worthwhile ways.
At present, spending so much time & energy on this substance pays off for lawyers and law-enforcement people, but not for the general public. So let's think about doing something sensible about this social problem.
Again, lest you gnash your teeth and wonder how such a "nut" could write this, let me assure you that I am moderate to conservative on most issues, but am willing to consider change if that's a way to improve our country.
