It's almost like reliving the 60's again. Talk of wars to be fought, boys and men being sent far from home to fight in a war no one wants. Talk of extending enlistments, political rhetoric flowing like wine, false bravado everywhere. Back in the late 30's there was a popular song that went..."Goodbye dear, I'll be back in a year." that made reference to the draft. Today I we hear the politicians and bureaucrats talk of Peace at any cost while while they argue over a date to discuss it. We hear about a coming war to be fought over the aggression in Bosnia...not a word about the Israeli or the Chinese or the South American countries also involved in similiar activities.
We possess the most powerful and most hated weapon in the world. Do we threaten to use it? Hell no! Better to let our young be wounded and/or killed than to use the one weapon that could save their lives and perhaps end this latest political folly.
Given all this, you know what bothers me the most? The apparent APATHY of the American people, including all those that have travelled this path before. The WALL lives...but don't you hear those voices whipering? They are trying to tell us something. Are you listening???
(The wall - the long black marble wall in Washington DC, with the names of over 58,000 soldiers engraved for eternity.)
