I trained in an office out of the indianapolis area. I left with a lot more problems than I came with but I still will not tell you that it is a scam. First of all a lot of the people who are complaining that they did not make any money in training and were left broke, I was told up front along with every other training class that came through while I was there that I would most likely make peanuts in training. I was definitely told about the people who made excellent money in training, but I was warned that I would not be living it up in training. What the office managers do wrong is simply this, they give false hope, to people that have no business being there in the first place. Those of us who made it to the management level of training have heard it time and time again. It is told that if you just keep an excellent attitude that you will make it. First of all, understand that I personally am not bitter. I made decent money while I was in training, had a blast merching, made lots of friends, and moved up and got promotions and bonuses regularly. This simply allowed me to gain knowledge of some of the mind games that are played with people that even though I had an excellent attitude and motivated my "crew" and was succesful I couldn't see myself playing these games with people! If you are very motivated, a successful salesperson, have no obligations and very little outside engagements, or simply have the ability to put your entire life on hold, then you can definitely be succesful with scentura, hell a friend of mine there opened an office and is 20 yrs old, no college education and everything was pretty much handed to her. That is the payoff for working for virtually nothing and putting your entire life on hold. The problem is that a very small percentage of the people that are hired make it there. The managers and office owners are very much aware of how difficult the training period is, they themselves went through it. I have no anger towards any of the owners for the misleading they do, becuase they were taught to do it with the understanding that they weren't misleading anyone. Does that make sense? It trickles down from the top. They dont relly realize they are hurting anyone by giving false hope. Although they definitely do know the people that are more likely to make it. I made a lot of friends in the training period and I am a very compassionate person. I quit shortly after being asked to join a group of about 6 people out of an office that currently had about 30 trainees. We were to help each other by helping each other stick to their goals and none was to know we were doing this. That's when I realized, some of us were chosen because they believed we could succeed, others were chosen just to have more bodies sell more perfume and hit more numbers than the other offices. That is what I decided that I personaally could not do. To each their own. People do a lot of cut throat things out there to move upp or survive in the business world. Giving false hope is definitely not a crime or even the worst of the fouls commited out there. I gained good things from my training, but I also burned a lot of bridges with family members. For some of us it is worth it to work a little longer and save those ties. It is not a crime what they do, and for some they are a godsent, the best opportunity in life they could ever face. But to some others who dont have the means or a re a little more vulnerable, the entire company can turn into a dead end and even though it sounds dramatic into a nightmare! I see it from both sides I guess. Take what you want from this. Are you one of the people that can make it? Then go for it! I wish you the best of luck! Please, if you have been taken in and could not succeed dont let it destroy your life!! You are still just as strong or capable as you were before you took your stroll through this little learning experience! Go on with your life! My advice, give it two to three weeks. But be honest with yourself. If you are not moving up or becoming successful, cut your losses!!! It doent make you a "weak piece of shit" or a "flake". It simply means you weren't cut out for that type of business. Maybe youre the one who needs to be in an educationally stimulating atmosphere even if it means you cant cuss, smoke, dress down and hang out and shoot the shit with your boss at work! The world takes all kinds!! FIRED UP!!!!! Lets really be positive here, not just pretend! Just because this company isnt your cup of tea, you can still be a good person and make it in life and be successful! I am only 20, I havent gone to college yet, so I was told that if I didnt make it there I would never do anything with myself! I am very proud of myself and have much more faith in myself than that! So if your that bitter that you are wasting your life trying to hurt people that own offices, then you believed them when they told you that you werent worth anything without them didn't you? YOU ARE!!! Keep your head up!!!
