Thanks very much for your post!
My stepson (who's been living on his own now for two years and can't seem to keep a job for more than a few months and already has $6000 in medical debt)... signed up with this company last week.
At least it appears to be this company. Apparently, they call themselves "Marketing International" or some such thing.
But they definitely sell for World Perfume, Inc., because the first day he signed up he came over and sold my wife some, claiming it was "the exact same thing" as the real designer brands.
Then, the next night he came over and brought the product. He didn't have a good answer as to why all the bottles said "promotional tester".
Now my wife says he said he's in 10 weeks of training with no paycheck.
My stepson is an enthusaistic sucker for just about anything that comes along that appears to be too good to be true. And if it tells you not to listen to your parents, then he REALLY seems to buy into it.
I'll admit that the boy would be good at sales. But he doesn't have any business sense whatsoever. And as for pride, he's really experienced in doing a lot of things to keep up a front / to keep from losing his pride.
Now I just have to figure out how to talk him out of all of this. I kept my mouth shut the first two nights, but he could tell I wasn't pleased (so says his mom).
I'm going to print up and give him your article today, but it will be touchy because we're having a family cook-out and I don't want to turn it into a shouting match.
Perhaps if I just raised enough questions in his own mind?
Hmmmmm....
Anyways, thanks for the lengthy post. There isn't much info like this out there via google.
Take care,
