I had the same experience. My wife ordered a clock and a year later, a $112 charge showed up on my credit card for a membership. I contaced the Minnesota Attorney General and was informed of the following:
In 1999 the AG made an out of court settelment with Damark where they must produce a tape proving they informed the customer of the membership requirements and of credit card charges. If Damark can not produce the tape, they must pay the customer double the amount of the unauthorized charge. Contact the Minnesota Attorney General. They have received hundreds of complaints.
