GIFT SUGGESTIONS
For senior citizens, their children or grandchildren
When holidays, birthdays, or other special days occur, many of us find it difficult to find "just the right gift" for our beloved parents, grandparents or older friends, especially since they seem to have almost everything we can think of. So this is a site that intends to provide suggestions that might contain the gift you are looking for. We welcome inputs! If you would like to suggest a gift for senior citizens, their children, or grandchildren please send us an e-mail. Items you should consider:

- PIANO TREASURES -- a collected series of all-instrumental nostalgic tunes on cassette tape and compact disk.
Piano medleys with varied categories (easy-listening, oldies, love ballads, show tunes, gospel, Christmas, weddings) that we all have known and loved. There is something just for you. All CD's are $14, cassettes $10. To see the contents of each CD or cassette tape, listen to a 30 second sound-byte, and find an order form, we invited you to visit the Piano Treasures homepage http://www.pianotreasurers.com by clicking HERE or call Barbara Garrett Hudson at 1-800-413-9894.
- Dream Piano Beautiful solo piano performances by Tom Messick that feature the timeless songs and love ballads of the 20th century and the themes from great movies, Broadway and TV shows. Tom's playing is truly music from the heart and an unforgettable trip down memory lane. His soothing piano style is restful and relaxing; just right for a candlelight dinner or a lovely evening at home. All CD's are $12.95 each plus S&H. They each contain over an hour of music. - I can only offer a terrific hobby idea for the seniors (female and male) to make for their grandchildren or to relay to the seniors's family
members. It is a dollhouse and can be made with something that everyone has in their home or can be gotten free or cheaply. No sawing or anything difficult at all. This has really put my elderly father "in gear". He is also making some money off of this very simple idea. This is not a scam. This is a really excellent idea I came up with because I could not afford a dollhouse for my daughter years ago and I just now retrieved it from my mind in order to keep my father busy. You will not believe how easy and rewarding this is. If they are interested, contact me at swood122@sunsix.infi.net
- Gifts for the grandchildren -- I propose that you should write an accurate autobiographical account of
your life when you were at your grandchildren's age. Knowledge and
memories are the two most wonderful things that age brings. Being able
to share these is the most incredible and enduring gift you could give
anyone. My own little one Robin Aziz demands that my daughter reads him
the account of how I built my "DEN", every night before he'll even
consider falling asleep. -- thanks to tomc
- The Book: The Second 50 Years -- A Reference Manual For Senior Citizens. A great book for those special birthdays, holidays, etc. Click HERE to find out how to obtain your copy.
- The Video: The Second 50 Years -- The companion video to the book.
- I propose that seniors be given a copy of Sylvia Auerbach's book, "How To Be Smart Parents Now That Your Kids Are Adults." Mr. Auerbach's book explores today's world of adult parenting. On-going parent/child
relationships, good family communication, lending and giving money to kids, nontraditional living arrangements among grown children, grandparenting and step-grandparenting are just a few of the issues examined in Ms. Auerbach's book. This book will help parents of grown children understand what being a parent continues to means. It's a wonderfully upbeat, non-nonsense guidebook. -- From: lizm@silvercat.com
- Cootchy Cootchy Who? - Grandparents can't wait to learn what their children will name their grandchildren. Now, thanks to a computer program called "Cootchy Cootchy Who?", grandparents may be able to speed up the name selection process. Give the program as a gift to your kids, then wait to see what names the come up with. This program is great for soon-to-be-parents as it helps sort through a list of over 9000 names. Sort by category (biblical, mythological, classic, name length), specify initials, look up definitions to 1000 of the more popular names. The program is fun and very easy to use, so even the non-technical members of your household should enjoy it. The cost is only $19.95 plus shipping and handling. This program is a great way to use that home computer. Call 1-800-737-6074 to order or check out the web site at: http://www.iquest.net/~compass/. Give a copy as a unique shower gift too! Let me know if you would like more information or an evaluation copy from which to do a story for your news letter. Obviously I have an interest in seeing this story run, but I also think it will make for some interesting reading for your subscribers. Contact: Julie 73323.1635@compuserve.com

- Laser Engraved Plaques --Have a wedding certificate or some award engraved.
- How about a Medal as a gift for your spouse? Go to a trophy store and purchase a bronze, silver, or gold metal, have it engraved for instances like "For living with Walter for 25 years" and hang it from a red, white and blue ribbon -- just like those given in the olympics. She will really be surprised.
