You sound like a great friend to this man!! It is very sad that his own family has turned their backs on him. I, too, wear a hearing aid. My aid cost almost 5,000.00!!! It is absurd, at how much these places charge. I have three suggestions for you. Talk with your friend, and first make darn sure that his insurance does not pay for hearing aids. Some insurance companies do pay for them, especially if his hearing loss was a result of working in a loud environment. I worked at UPS, and UPS paid for my first pair of hearing aids. Second, your friend may want to subscribe to a prescription assistance card. A lot of these cards will pay up to 50% towards the cost of hearing aids. Last, if all else fails, tell your friend to enquire on the penalty for not paying the hearing aid off in 6 months. The place I am going to is not charging me anything, however, I send them 100 bucks every month, faithfully!! Good Luck to you and your friend.
