After a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, it is quite easy for the afflicted individual to become depressed regarding his or her future.  If the signs of depressions appear, seek treatment immediately.  You may wish to contact a professional or counselor after diagnosis regardless of any signs of depression so that you can discuss your feelings towards the disease or your treatment options.  One excellent option is joining a support group.  Ask a friend or loved one to accompany you to support group meetings so that everyone will better understand the disease, its progression, and any treatments.

Many experts believe the best way to live with Parkinson's disease is to stay active.  Take this opportunity to develop new interests or hobbies.  Look into groups, organizations, or clubs you can join for physical, mental, or emotional activities.  Isolation is the most detrimental thing anyone with Parkinson's can do regarding his or her diagnosis.  Furthermore, beginning a physiotherapy program will enable you to continue working on your motor skills and physical abilities.  Constantly working on your physical, mental, and emotional well being will help you live with Parkinson's disease as the conditions continues to progress.
