Stress – Studies have not shown stress to be
directly inked to cholesterol levels. But experts say that because
people sometimes eat fatty foods to console themselves when under
stress, this can cause higher blood cholesterol.
Excess weight
– Being overweight tends to increase blood cholesterol levels. Losing
weight has been shown to help lower levels. A greater risk of increased
cholesterol levels occurs when that extra weight is centered in the
abdominal region, as opposed to the legs or buttocks.

Seniors everywhere are now faced with tough decisions re the new Medicare program. Based on what I have found it is scandalous. If you don't believe go on and look up your options, in doing so put in a number of different zips for other states than your own and compare. The differences are stunning. If you are as mad about this as I am -- WRITE YOUR SENATOR/CONGRESSMAN. We need that they have
the new medicare prescription drug planReply to this Comment
The new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan is not good. Please, everyone, read the fine print. If you cannot understand it, go to a local WalMart and find the Humana representative who has set up shop in many store locations. Talk in depth to the representative and find out how the new Medicare Plan is going to be very expensive for you (you don't have to sign up with Humana, just talk to the guy, it will make it easier for you to understand the actual rules of this new Medicare Prescription Plan). Why do I say this? Because it calculates your out of pocket by the percentage cost of the raw cost of the drug, not a co-pay, and believe me, that type of plan will be extaordinarily expensive. For example, my drugs actually cost on the average $2,475 per month. Since I was paying a copay of $!0 or $25 or $50, I had NO idea how high the raw cost of the drugs were! Many of us were used to the co-pay system, so paying a percentage will shock you. Plus, I don't really like how the Medicare rule book threatens us - by saying that if you don't sign up now, you will be penalized when you need it in the future. (The penalty is something like 1% for every month you could have joined up and didn't, and I just hate to have my government threatening me.) So getting back to the plan. For me, the cost of my first month would be about $975 out of pocket per month, first because of the $250 deductable, and then me paying a percentage of the raw cost of the drugs, not a co-pay. So I pay 25% of $2,000 which is $500. Then, since my drugs were over the $2,250 limit, I had to pay 100% of the remaining amount which would be about $225. The total for my first month would be $975! Then, the second month I would have to pay 100% of the cost of my drugs which would be $2,475. Why so much? Because there is a little provision that says that you must pay 100% of the raw cost of the drugs from $2,250 to $5,100. Medicare pays nothing - 0%. You pay 100% of the cost of your drugs over $2,250 and you continue to pay 100% of the raw cost until you reach $5,100. Then, after the $5,100 limit, you pay 5% which for me is about $95 a month. The booklet says that I will pay $3,600 out of pocket until they start to pay 95% of the raw cost of the drugs, but depending on the company you sign with, you might pay even more than that (Humana calls certain drugs 'Specialty Drugs' for which you will pay 25% co-insurance but these are mostly the newest drugs that are extraordinarily expensive). Plus don't forget we also have to pay a monthly premium, which could be on the average $38 a month, or anywhere from $5 to 150 depending on the company you sign with, since they also look at your medical history as well and so the premiums could be higher if say you have diabetes or a pain condition like me, need new, expensive sleeping pills. And remember, this is a yearly contract, so you have to go through the $250 deductible again and pay that devious little part - 100% , yes 100%, from the $2,250 to $5,100 range. This percentage payment type plan is very expensive for seniors on a fixed income. Write your congressman and ask for a "co-pay" system instead. It is less complicated and more fair to the elderly. Please try to find a person who really can sit down with you and crunch your numbers. Don't believe that your government is going to help you, the drug companies have had a major say in writing the contracts for this whole thing. Notice how they are the ones who are selling their premiums? The government has nothing to do with this. I'm just trying to get the message out and I just feel a sinister presence with the drug companies. Phizer (sp?) is the worst. They actually want to prevent Americans from going to Canada and are pressuring law men and women to pass legislation to jail Americans who try to buy drugs in a cheaper place. This reminds me of Russia during the cold war who prevented their citizens from travelling to certain countries. Please, don't allow drug companies to tell you were you can travel and where you can shop. That's just crazy. Many congressmen have not actually read the fine print with this "Plan D". Try to write congressman and women and senators, etc., who pass legislation benefitting drug companies and not the elderly. Take an hour and read the fine print and then collect your thoughts and write your Congressmen. Thanks, from Sylvia.

I would like to thank you for taking the time and interest in reading on what we are trying to create and establish. Precision Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy consisting of mainly generic and a few brand-name medications. We are able to sell FDA approved generic medications at extremely low rates because we do not accept insurance and do not have to make up for poor reimbursement rates from insurance payers.
As you may know, the dramatically rising costs of prescription medications are forcing many people to reach deep into their pockets to purchase their medications. For persons on a fixed income, paying for these life-improving medications can create a major financial burden. It can also force seniors to make difficult choices on expenses within their limited budget. Precision Pharmacy’s mission is to help lower prescription medication costs while keeping both the patient and their physician in control of the patient’s healthcare needs.
We can provide the seniors of our community with an opportunity to save money on their generic medications. In addition to this, we can eliminate the inconvenience of filling their prescriptions month to month by filling up to a years worth of their medication in the same visit. Another benefit that we offer is free-home delivery through USPS. Precision Pharmacy appreciates your help to lower the overall financial burden of prescription medication costs for our community.
Thanks you for your support,
Precision Pharmacy
