KNOWING ABOUT BOARD AND CARE HOMES
Residential Care services for the seniors or board or care homes are housing private homes, which must meet care and safety standards set by the state and are licensed and inspected by the Department of Social Service. They purposely keep a seat limitation to six or slightly more so that each member is attended individually in a cozy atmosphere.
Care homes have a broad range of services. As per convenience and preferences rooms may be shared or had private.
Restroom sharing is optional too. Community activities are catered to but within a limited extent. These care homes are open to different language, ethnicity and food preferences. Pets are also allowed to brighten up the atmosphere and bring in a homely touch. Basic amenities like personal hygiene, eating, walking, bathing, dressing, and medication are attended to with special care. With so many retirement living arrangements all around, there is barely a need or situation that can’t be met with of the senior citizens.
The residents and caregivers form a well-knit bond due to their frequent interactions. Emotional support from these care givers goes a long way in healing their self respect. There are different levels to a care home. They vary in care providing levels, from just giving a personal company for seniors to managing severe medical ailments. These specialized health care homes have trained nurses who assist the patient and their related requirements, such as paralysis or stroke residents, non-ambulatory residents, oxygen needs, diabetes care, colostomy’s, catheters, and memory and cognitive impairments such as dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s disease. Therefore while on the lookout for a care home for your dear relative please remember to chose a home which caters to the special needs, preferences and medical conditions if any.
These care homes are administered and supervised by people who take their work as a passion and not do social services just for the name of it. Care homes are an energizing change from the more businesslike approach of a nursing facility.
