So why are so many people migrating south? There
are a number of reasons. The first and the foremost reason that people
migrate south is weather. After spending years of dealing with the
harsh cold of winter, people want a milder climate and find that by
moving southward. No longer do you have to deal with absurd wind chills
and crazy sub-zero temperatures.
The south offers a much warmer climate
with fewer hassles and headaches.
Believe it or not, migrating south can also save you money. With the
increasing cost of heating prices, moving south may help keep your
energy costs in check. Not to mention that the large four-wheel drive
SUVs can be traded in for smaller economy cars when you no longer need
to forge the snowdrifts and ice patches of the harsh north.
Depending on where you move to and where you're moving from, you might
even find more affordable housing by moving south. Not all areas are
created equal and many areas in the south are much more affordable than
some of the areas in the north. For example, a house that costs
$350,000 in Lake County, Illinois may only cost $200,000 in Montgomery
County, Alabama. That's quite a difference.
Moving south might also mean a better lifestyle. No longer will you be
stuck indoors when the winter blizzards strike. With a milder
year-round climate, southern states offer more outdoor fun and an
abundance of activities throughout the year.
If you find that the doldrums of winter are starting to get you down,
you might want to consider migrating south where warmer weather awaits
you.
