My parent is a resident of St Joseph's Manor in Trumbull. My family and my parent have recently been sued by St Jos Manor for monies the state is currently paying them from my parent's social security checks. The manor has been collecting monies formore than a year and still has a year of payments to collect. The state insists there is no problem, yet we are now being sued for the remaining money. Evidently, this nursing home is banking on my parent's death within the next 11 months. When this repayment schedule was set up with the state, I understood that any outstanding amount due upon the death of my parent would be our responsibility and I agreed that we would pay it. They have decided that extortion is a better route. Instead of requesting a meeting to discuss their concerns, they sent a federal marshall to the nursing home to embarrass and distress one of own residents. This is supposed to be a nursing home guided by loving precepts. The place is highly overrated. In our experience, the care is minimal, & they care nothing for the comfort & emotional well-being of their residents. Be forewarned that the almighty dollar is what all nursing homes consider the bottom line.

We are writing to you to tell you how desperate we are to find our Mom, Nita Mayo... It is now 3 months since our Mom went missing in the Sierra Mountains on Highway 108....the SAME highway that Carole Sund, Julie Sund, and Silvina Palosso were murdered in 1999. (Yosemite murders). The Carole Sund Foundation has also put up a reward for the Safe Return of our Mom. Our Mother's car was found with ALL of her belongings inside, but she was no where in sight...our Mom loves and lives for her family....this IS NOT a case of her walking away from life....this is either a case of some sort medical condition that has her disoriented and not knowing who she is (though she was in PERFECT physical condition before she left...she works at a hospital as a nurse), or she was abducted. The area that her car was found in is a resort area with lots of vacationers. Her car was found at the Donnell Vista overlook off Highway 108, east of Pinecrest. We NEED to get the word across the nation to people that have possibly been in the area on August 8th, 2005. People come here to vacation from all over the country. If someone saw something on that Monday....they may never know to tell us because they do not know of her disappearance. PLEASE HELP US!....WE ARE DESPERATE AND IN URGENT NEED. I am truly upset with these stations, I just don't understand why they don't have the respect and caring for older people. My Mom is beautiful. And we miss her.

I did not see a link anywhere on your web-site to let one know just how to go about making one-time or regular donations to the Baptist Home of South Jersey in Riverton, NJ. One of the creative ways the Baptist Home can solicit donations is through United Way. Traffic Methods That Actually Send YOUR Traffic to OTHER Websites Reply to this Comment

Believe it or not, there are many rather popular website promotion methods that actually drive traffic away from your website. They usually clutter up your website with a bunch of graphics and do virtually nothing to improve your bottom line. Here are just a few examples: Top Sites - The premise is that you put a vote button on your site and people click to vote for you, raising your site up in the list of "top sites". People who visit the top site list see your site near the top and click on your banner to see what your site is all about. Things to consider: You have to put a graphic on your site. Of course, you will make the link open in a new window, so you don't lose your visitor, but you have created a distraction for your visitor. You want your visitor to focus on your sales message, not a graphic that leads your visitors away from your website. Let's be serious. If you've participated in a Top Site or visited a top site page, when's the last time you did any shopping from it? Realistically, the Top Site List serves to best promote the website that created the list rather than the individuals on that list. Check your website stats to see how much traffic you get from this list and see if anyone buys. Banner Exchange - Everyone participating in the exchange places a banner on his site. This banner rotates throughout the participating sites every time a page refreshes. The premise is that you get a lot of exposure by having your banner appear on a number of sites. Things to Consider: Again, you have to put a distracting graphic on your site. Usually banner exchanges are made up of like-sites. Why would you send your visitor to your competitor?! Most banner exchanges give you one impression of your banner for every two times the banner exchange appears on your website. Does it seem wise to possibly give away two visitors for every one visitor you might get back to your site? As in the Top Site List, the banner exchange serves best to promote the website that created it. The banner exchange usually has a link to the creator's site underneath the banner. This is the one link that doesn't change on the rotation, thus, giving the creator constant exposure on all sites, but giving you very little in return. Web Rings - A web ring is a graphic placed on a website that allows visitors to travel from one related website to another. The idea is that everyone puts the graphic on her home page to create a continuous "ring". Things to Consider: It's the same old story. You're creating a distraction for your visitor and potentially sending your traffic to your competitor. It just doesn't seem like a good idea. These rings are often broken by members and you never know it. And even more BAD ideas: Buying Hits - It is so sad, but there is an entire industry that takes advantage of traffichungry website owners. If you see an ad that says, "Buy 10,000 targeted hits" or an eBay auction that says, "2 Million Hits to Your Website," run the other way. Here's how these programs work: Your entire web page pops-up while somebody is surfing another website or is using particular software. Sometimes these hits are delivered within in a day or a few days and you have no idea where your site is popping up. You must realize that these aren't bonus fide visitors to your website; it's just people who may have been annoyed by your website popping up in their faces. Let's go back to our conversion rate calculations. We know that a 1% conversion rate isn't bad. If buying hits was a good idea, we would get 100 sales for every 10,000 hits we bought. We've tested this. It just doesn't happen. And don't be fooled by people who tell you they can target your hits by country or industry. There is NOTHING targeted by forcing someone to view your website without permission. Surfing for Traffic - There are all kinds of programs where you can surf other people's websites in return for other people surfing yours. These programs are generally free. Search Engine Submission - It's big business but is a COMPLETE waste of time and money - Let us start by saying that you should NEVER pay anyone to submit your website to search engines. First of all, many of these programs use auto-submitters, which are against many search engine guidelines. But the biggest "scam" of all is that these companies will say things like: "Submit your site to the top 500 search engines" "Your site submitted to 5000 search engines" Let's be serious. There aren't 5000 worthwhile search engines, let alone 500. There are just a handful of search engines that will bring you a significant amount of traffic. These include Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Then you'll probably see some traffic from AOL, Netscape, Ask Jeeves, EarthLink, DogPile and a few more. But you know what? You don't actually have to submit to these sites to get listed. Search engines follow links on the Internet and if you have websites linking to you, these search engines will find you. So, if you want to get listed and stay listed, all you need is to acquire a few links to your website. If you don't believe us, take it from Google & Yahoo: Google Webmaster Guidelines: "We add thousands of new sites to our index each time we crawl the Web, but if you'd like, you may submit your URL as well. Submission is not necessary and does not guarantee inclusion in our index. Given the large number of sites submitting URLs, it's likely your pages will be found in an automatic crawl before they make it into our in

My Mom is 87 and frail. A sister transferred all of Mom's assets into her own name, including condo & phone. Then took out $25K mortgage. Have personally heard sister verbally abuse Mother; learned it's impossible to get this investigated, especially if victim is fearful of abuser. No one seems to understand that abusers oftentimes isolate their victim. I know. My sister "kidnapped" my Mom for more than a year and wouldn't let us talk to each other. There should be a central place to report elder abuse to a qualified government agency who knows what they're doing.

Iam currently on suspension from my job @ FARMINGTON HEALTHCARE NURSING FACILITY.I cant meet with corporate or any of the "head" people.my suspension stems from me"refusing" to take care of an elderly woman who requested for me not to be her aide.How can I "refuse" to take care of someone when they specifically requested anew aide ? I was told to "violate" their rights and take care of them anyway. I refused. Now they've come up with "trumped" up charges,insubordination,violation of company policies.We even had an aides only meeting to discuss the issue at hand and the only thing said was if a resident refuses us we're going to be transferred off the floor or removed permanetly.My objections,in a "closed"door meeting with aides with the same concerns,was deemed disrespectful,I have no right to disagree with the supervisor! I've been off work more than a month,anticipating the union will have the reprimand removed from my file,and reimburse me for loss wages. WOW! I AM A MALE CENA MY JOB IS TO ASK WOMEN RIGHT AWAY "ARE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH A MALE ?" IF NOT,I TELL MY NURSE SO WE CAN GET THEM ANOTHER AIDE. I would like to know if there is any way a family member can be paid for assisting elderly pt's within their home as a chore worker-not licensed. One elderly has dementia the other is aided with a walker incapacitated. The care is in 8-10 hr spans - but they've given up employment to care for them.

Hi Dave....I too have suffered panic attacks for years...there are meds that help some ppl, but I havent found one that works for me, ...I take Ativan 2mg to calm me down, doesnt work very well. ...I tried PAXIL it didnt help me but it might help you. ...TRY IT AND LET ME KNOW Your PANIC FRIEND..Lynn

I'v designed an "Alzheimers Play Pillow" in Loving Memory of my Mom. She was a victim of the disease. The play pillow gave her fingers something to touch, her hands something to hold and her arms something to hug. With the attached waist tie the pillow remained on her lap at all times.

I have wanted to work as a (NURSE) PCT or CNA as long as I can remember. I recently completed a 40 hour class for PCT and thought I"d get a certification BUT I was wrong it only offered me a card stating I can work as a PCT. Now I find out I have to take a CNA class which is basically the same thing in order to get a certification. There's such a shortage of caring people who want to work in the CNA feild and take care of our seniors But theres not enough places offering classes anymore. If u have any information that might help me or comments please Help me.

I recently placed (moved)my 84 year old mother to a skilled nursing facility from an assisted living. The staff was great. The attention she got in a 120 bed facility was amazing. She loves it there. Since February, most of her staff has quit due to management problems.Her room was not clean. She keeps asking for her caregivers. I tried to speak to the manager today, he asked me to wait 3 minutes. After waiting 15 minutes, I left. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just discovered from my lawyer that I my son may be "harmed" because I have not officially given my son a deed to some property promised to him for over 5 years or so. This was because of my lack of doing so, nothing else. Because this has not yet been done, the way I understand it, I cannot legally "gift" this to him without the concern of being penalized (not qualifying) for medicaid when/if I should need it over the next five years. (I am 86) I know my mind is not as sharp as it once was .. but what I am wondering is what is to prevent me from reportinig this property as paid in full? How would anyone know? If it was not my oversight, my son would still be paying on this property and this would not be such a large concern. I sure would like to learn if there is anything that I am able to do to remediate this problem.
