I USED TO VISIT MY AUNT AT THE PINES AND THERE WAS NEVER ENOUGH STAFF. THE STAFF THEY HAD WERE OVERWORKED AND THE NURSING ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM REALLY DID NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM.

HOW DID YOU HELP?Reply to this Comment
TO THOSE OF YOU COMPLAINING OF SHORT STAFFING, THAT IS WHY FAMILY INVOLVEMENT IS ALSO IN HIGH DEMAND.
TOO MANY FAMILIES ACT AS THOUGH THEY ARE INCOMPETENT
OF BATHING, CHANGING PAMPERS,
OR LEARNING HOW TO BE MORE
INVOLVED WITH A FAMILY MEMBER.

We are commenting to Marty's blog about family members not helping with patients. I am going to let you know we worked diligently with our mother's self care needs because there were inconsistencies during the day and evening weekdays and especially weekends due to to staffing shortages. Our mother developed a Stage 3/4 decubitus ulcer and an UTI and is now hospitalized. We will not be sending her back The attitude with the nursing staff is appalling. Very disrespective of the family needs! No empathy what so ever. The admission director is very arrogant and not empathetic and not concerned about our needs. Also our mother is dealing with multiple medical issues from this stay at the Pines. After a staff member reported to an ombudsman regarding our mother's care, he called us in reference to the complaint. After reviewint medical records and talking to the staff, he felt mom's care was progressing and that we need to put things in the past and look to the future. However, mom was over prescribed medication, she lost 21 pounds in 30 days, a Stage 3/4 pressure sore and uncontrolled diabetes with no medication. So how is she progressing when the orthopedic surgeon stated there is no evidence of bone healing on her fractured femur!!!!
