Ode to Cady Cat
written by DeAnna Scott - f4paws@dcez.com

An ode to Cady Cat
who was just a cat you might presume
but more than that
infact
she was somebody's very good friend.

Who's silky hair
was a comfort to the soul of anyone
so fortunate of
feeling her brush against their check

Who's small little paws
a pleasure to feel for a fleeting second across
one's own
Taking with her a peice of our hidden passion
to run without bounds
like her
Cady Cat.

What we have left of Cady Cat
are memories of her short visit with us
an indelible impression
a stone now on our hearts
we miss her and the simple treats
that were hers to give, if you were
special.

Yes, this is an ode to Cady Cat
who was just a cat
impossible to suspect you would still consider that
Since I explained,
infact,
she was somebody's very good friend.

This was written out of much emotion felt at the death of a cat my organization adopted out. Cady was adopted by a very loving women but after two months succumed to an unforseen kidney failure as a result of consuming antifreeze. Although she was an indoor cat once adopted, it was suspected that she drank the poison several months before she was given up to us (4 Paws Rescue Team, Inc.). No vet that came in contact with her noticed her illness until to late. Somehow I feel that we should have known and will always feel like we failed Cady. We always want people to know the dangers of antifreeze and cats maybe another darling cat like Cady can be saved as a result. Thank you for listening. DeAnna Scott 4 Paws Rescue Team, Inc.
