Amnesia
-- by William Tozzi -- Copyright 1996 -- wtozzi@ix.netcom.com

I remember that I had amnesia, I remember it a lot.
What amnesia made me forget, I remember not.
There's a gap in memory from a bump upon the head.
I remember not a thing. I know only what I read.

They say there was an accident, a mishap of some kind.
I only have the evidence from scars it left behind.
I don't remember what took place on that day in November.
I wish I could forget the fact that I can't remember.

I can recollect no crash, no injury, no pain.
That event is like a link that's missing from a chain.
I don't remember the incident, the time after and before.
In my mind, where there's a blank, there should be something more.

It happened a long time ago, it haunts me, still, today.
I wish the thoughts of nothingness would, somehow, go away.
I won't forget I had amnesia, till the day I die.
I can't recall what I forgot, no matter how I try.
