Picture Poem
-- by Sarah Edwards - Copyright 1998 -- sarah.surfs@worldnet.att.net

I know I look sweet and innocent
But please do not be fooled
For underneath I am frightening
I know I present courage and pride
Yet really I am scared and pitiful inside

Please do not be fooled by what I wear
For inside I spit poison and rage fire
I walk with dignity, a sense of being
But really I run from the things that scare me
I am kind a courteous
Yet the world is full of hatred and war

Please accept me for who I am and not what you perceive
I go my way, you go yours
Yet when we meet again
Please remember
No one is perfect
Not you nor me.
