Seeds of Love
-- by Terry Ann Braaten -- Copyright 1985

If I had the need for human love
torn from my tender heart;
then there'd be room to plant a seed
and give God's love a start.

There is such a big, big difference
in God's love and the kind we know.
I'm sure it must grieve Him awfully
the seeds of love we sow.

The seed of self-love flourishes
in the heart of most all men.
The need for approval and compliments
and pride..a most deadly sin.

The seed of lust is thriving too
in the heart of most mankind.
We're carried away with our thoughts of it
and it controls our mind.

The seed of love for family
though it may not cause us to fall
often keeps our thoughts from you, God
as we strive to please them all.

The kind of seed You'd plant in us
would grow for the common good
and when mature, we'd know just how
to love others as we should.
