Shadows of Life
-- by Dean E. Gerry - Copyright 1999 -- dgerry1@uswest.net

My heart was beating hard;
I could barely walk.
Perspiration was oozing down my back,
soaking my shirt.
Somebody was following me!
I whirled around,
came face to face with my shadow.

Shadows are with you as you challenge everyday chores.
Like life itself, they are constantly changing.
Shadows are extensions of your well being;
they lead, follow, & stand by your side
- like good friends.

Shadows appear in all shapes & sizes
- like loved ones.
Be careful of shadows you cast,
as someone may be following in your footsteps.
Only your shadow knows!

Growing up in the shadow of a loving Mother & Father,
gives courage to cast your own shadow on life.
We don't always have a shadow to lead, follow, or be by our side,
but we are always in the shadow of the Lord Jesus Christ.
