Christmas Poem... Let Me Be A Child Again
-- by Ellen Fair - Copyright 1998 -- fairelle@gte.net

Let me be a child again
If only for this night
Let me feel excitement as
I gaze upon the lights
Place the shiny presents
In perfect order every day
And be the perfect angel
So Santa comes my way

Let me breathe the sweet aroma
Of tarts and apple pie
And see red candles burning
And gifts with big red ties
Let me listen to the voices
Of the carolers on the lawn
And dream of brand new Christmas toys
As I await the dawn

Let me listen for the footsteps
Of the reindeer as they light
And think that I hear Santa
Dashing off into the night
And...Mama...if you hear me...
Please hold me close once more
And whisper "Merry Christmas"
As you softly close my door...
